He received his Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education from University of Texas at Austin and specializes in the acquisition of Arabic as a Foreign Language. Dr. Abuhakema will build and maintain an Arabic Program at MSU. |

DR. ANTENOS-CONFORTI received her Ph.D. from University of Toronto’s Department of Italian Studies. She has taught at the Middlebury Language School Summer Immersion Program, Ohio State University and De La Salle College “Oaklands.” Her dissertation was entitled The Teaching of Elementary Italian as a Second Language in Canadian Universities: Research, Curricula and Future Perspectives. Her area of specialty is current teaching theories and approaches to Italian in non-primary settings.

DR. BEHLMAN joins us from Kansas State University. His scholarship focuses on classicism and religion from the 1820s through the 1890s and how they intersect with concerns of gender and sexuality. Dr. Behlman joins the English Department as an expert in Victorian Poetry. His current book project is entitled The Postures of Victorian Stoicism. |

DR. FEDERMAN joins us from the Department of Political Science and Graduate Center for Social and Public Policy at Duquesne University. He is the recipient of two prestigious Fulbright Scholarships and is the author of the forthcoming book, The Body and the State: Habeas Corpus and American Jurisprudence. Dr. Federman will offer courses in the newly formed Justice Studies Department.

DR. FELDMAN’S areas of specialty are computational linguistics and theoretical linguistics. She will hold a joint appointment at MSU. Her contributions will be to both the Department of Linguistics and Computer Science. Dr. Feldman has won numerous awards including Presidential Fellowship from Ohio State University and a Marie Curie Fellowship at the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics in The Netherlands.
