Dr. Richard Lynde
A conversation with the Provost. Dr. Lynde will discuss MSU's definition
of scholarship, expectations of faculty performance and MSU strategic
plan.

Each dean will present
his/her vision of their college, expectations for new faculty in their
colleges/schools and introduce their staff.

Dr. Joan Ficke, Associate Vice
President
for Academic Affairs with Resource Faculty
Dr. Ficke will engage the
group in a conversation about reappointment, tenure and promotion
processes.

Visiting the School of Business
New faculty symposium with one representative from each of
the colleges/schools presenting their research to the others in the
cohort.
November 15
Project
(FSIP preparation/brainstorming).
Faculty will gather in small groups according to the area in
which they apply. Please make sure to
read the abstracts that have been posted in Blackboard so you can
provide and
receive feedback to and from your colleagues. The resource faculty will
serve as
"expert readers" and provide suggestions as needed.
(Reminder: February 9 is the deadline for
presenting
proposal to readers, the first step in the process).

Different workshops will be offered.
November 29
College/School session
December 6
Visiting the College of Science
and Mathematics
New faculty workshop/symposium II; the art of teaching, with
one representative from each of the colleges leading the group in the
exploration of topics relating to teaching.
December 13
Presentation of FSIP proposals
(A poster session).
Each new faculty participant will present in a poster format
their FSIP proposal. All of those participating in the program as well
as other
individuals will be invited to attend.
