Art
director turns author and illustrator...The Rosen Publishing Group
recently released a new children's book, Jalani and the Lock, authored
and illustrated by Lorenzo Pace, director of the Art Galleries. Jalani
and the Lock tells the story of a young boy's experience with slavery
and his hope for freedom. The book is based on the true story of the lock
that shackled Pace's great-great-grandfather and has been handed down
in his family through the generations. Pictured, MSU President Susan A.
Cole joins Pace as he talks about the book to children in the Child Care
Center's Pre-K classroom. They are Claudia, daughter of Lucy Flores of
Information Technology; Tabansi, son of Saundra Collins of Psychology;
and Tara, daughter of Dawn Torchon, a Child Care Center toddler room teacher.
