Burger,
anyone?...It may not look like much yet, but when completed this
steel structure (left) will be the new Red Hawk Diner (right). Funded
by Sodexho Marriott and constructed by Kullman Industries, Inc.,
the diner will be located behind the Student Center and will serve
up the best in diner fare, from thick burgers and tasty fries to
delicious milkshakes and tempting desserts. Kullman is a leading
innovator in modular building, specializing in the construction
of diners including the Tick Tock in Clifton and Vicki's Diner in
Westfield, among many others. The 2,775-square-foot diner, which
will seat 119 people, is being completely constructed in Kullman's
factory in Lebanon, N.J., and then will be taken apart and transported
to campus in six flatbed trucks in late May. The 1950s-style eatery
is expected to be open for business by late summer. A grand opening
celebration is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4. Keep an eye on future
issues of INSIGHT and Montclair State's Web site for updates on
the diner.
