Gbur designed the flag that was chosen by the campus community while she
was working as a student assistant in the Publications Office.
Roger Ailes
(center), CEO of Fox News and senior adviser to Rupert Murdoch, is this
year's recipient of the DuMont Television Center Broadcaster of the Year
Award. Former head of "America's Talking" and CNBC, Ailes was a political
consultant to Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George Bush, Sr., among
others. He is best known for producing the Willie Horton spot for Bush's
1988 presidential campaign. Most recently he was part of a panel of major
network news executives that testified before Congress about the erroneous
predictions broadcast on election night. Past recipients of the DuMont
Broadcaster of the Year Award are former Senator Bill Bradley, Daily News
television critic David Bianculli, and CEO of BMI, Frances Preston. Pictured

Montclair State joins New Jersey Coastal Communiversity
In
September, students from Brookdale and Ocean County community colleges
who hold an associate's degree in business administration can study for
a bachelor's degree from Montclair State without ever leaving the Jersey
shore.

Two juniors earn early admission into UMDNJ's dental school
They
may be juniors, but Melissa Col—n and Victoria Santiago are already the
first Montclair State students to be accepted to University of Medicine
and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) under the dental articulation agreement
between the two universities.
"They
are both industrious young ladies and I'm proud of them," said Marie Washington,
director of the Health Careers Program. The eight-year dental articulation
agreement was established in 1999. Full Story
Philanthropist, CEO and musical
powerhouse to receive honorary degrees
Raymond
G. Chambers, one of the nation's leading philanthropists; Gordon Bethune,
chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Continental Airlines;
and musical powerhouse Cissy Houston will be awarded honorary degrees

TALON Club hosts first Olympics
Tug-of-war,
a three-legged race and a pie-eating contest aren't official NCAA sporting
events, but Montclair State athletes recently traded in their bats, lacrosse
sticks and other usual playing equipment for a different kind of competitionÑthe
TALON Olympics.
The TALON (Teaching Athletes Leadership Opportunities Now) Club, a leadership
council for student-athletes, held its first Olympics on April 25, and
they're hoping it becomes an annual event. Full

First M.F.A. thesis exhibit held
in New York
Montclair
State University's first M.F.A. thesis exhibition will be held at White
BoxÑThe Annex in New York City, May 8 through 26.
The
exhibition, titled "5," includes sculpture, paintings, drawings, and installations
by Montclair State's first graduating class of M.F.A students. Participating
students are Peerayot Gwilliam, Joanne Lefrak, Christina Pi–eros, F. Paul
Shields Jr. and Dmitri Wilkins. The exhibition is curated by David Levi
Strauss, a visiting critic-in-residence at Montclair State. Full
