President Susan A. Cole has been appointed by Acting Governor Donald T. DiFrancesco to co-chair the World Class Economy Task Force. She also recently was appointed to the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce and serves as chair of the Liberty Science Center Facilities Committee.

Dennis Adams of Literacy and Educational Media had a book he co-authored, Literacy in a Multimedia Age ,published by Christopher-Gordon Publishers. He also co-authored a chapter, "Literacy, Learning and Media," in Future Courses: A Compendium of Thought about Education, Technology and the Future, published by Technos Press.

George Antoniou of Computer Science co-edited a book, Advances in Signal Processing and Computer Technologies, which is part of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Series of the World Scientific and Engineering Society (WSES) Press. The volume contains research papers of 78 authors from 26 countries.

Anita Daniel of Sprague Library authored "Legislation and Regulation," a chapter on Internet sites about federal and state legislation and regulation that appeared in Government Online: One-Click Access to 3,400 Federal and State Web Sites, published by Neal-Schuman Publishers, Inc.

Kossi Edoh of Computer Science had his paper, "Chaotic Dynamics in Josephson Junction," published in IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, Volume 48, Number 8.

Mark Kaelin of Health Professions, Physical Education, Recreation and Leisure Studies received $165,035 from the National Institutes of Health to continue funding "Detectives in the Classroom," a three-year project that teaches scientific investigative techniques to grade school children through the study of epidemiology. The study, now in its second year, is designed to stimulate children's interest in science.

Anita Kubicka of Athletics has completed her service as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Rules Committee. As a charter member of the committee charged with creating rules for the college game, Kubicka was instrumental in writing the first and subsequent rules books.

John Smallwood of Biology and Molecular Biology received $12,000 from the Wilson Ornithological Society to continue the second year of his editorship of the prestigious ornithological publication, The Wilson Bulletin.

Antoinette Spiotta of the Psychoeducational Center received $686,709 from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services to continue the early intervention services to at least 123 families in Essex County. The program identifies developmental delays in young children and works with the families to develop therapeutic early intervention strategies.
