Womens Basketball names head coach
Jaime Hoffman has been named head coach of womens basketball. Hoffman
comes to Montclair State after serving as an assistant coach with St. Francis
University in Brooklyn, N.Y. She becomes the eighth head coach for the 32-year-old
womens basketball program.
Prior to St. Francis, Hoffman was head coach at Newbury College in Brookline,
Mass. for three seasons, helping that program make the transition from the
junior college level to NCAA Division III. She also coached softball and womens
tennis at Newbury, earned the Massachusetts Association for Intercollegiate
Athletics for Women Achievement Award in 2000, and was named NJCAA Region
XXI Division II Coach of the Year in 1999.
Hoffman played basketball and softball at the Catholic University in Washington,
D.C. A four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain for the Cardinals,
she earned a bachelors degree in social work.
Costello drafted by Blue Jays

Junior lefthander Ryan Costello was selected in the 10th round of the
2001 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in June. Costello was
chosen by the Toronto Blue Jays and is the third MSU hurler in as many
years to be chosen in the draft. Costello helped the Red Hawks to the NJAC and Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, and a third place finish at the 2001 NCAA Division III World Series. The 6-6 junior was named American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Third-Team All-American and was named the to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team. He was chosen the Pitcher of the Year by the New Jersey College Baseball Association and was named to the All-NJAC and NJCBA squads as well. |
