Ensemble concert series starts November 24

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N. J. -- On Tuesday, November 24, the Montclair State University Music Department kicks off its large ensemble concert series when the University Chorus and Madrigals perform their fall concert. Directed by guest conductor Jeanette Hile, the groups will perform works by Mozart, Vaughn Williams, Lasso and others.

On Thursday, December 3, the Montclair State Orchestra, directed by Nelson Nirenberg, MSU professor of music, will perform Serge Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf." Works by Mozart, Gluck and Dittersdorf will also be performed.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Montclair State Concert Band, under the guidance of Director of Bands Mary Ann Craig, will perform works including excerpts from Verdi's "Manzoni Requiem," Shostakovich's "Festive Overture" and "Four Scottish Dances."

All concerts are free and open to the public. They start at 8 p.m. and are held in Memorial Auditorium, which is located inside Life Hall.
