New web site examines how cars impact the environment

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N. J. -- Audrey Massa of MSU's Earth and Environmental Studies Department has created a web site that examines how cars impact the environment and the hazards of car pollutants.

Massa created the environmental web site for Volvo Cars of North America, Inc. The web site's (http://environment.volvocars.com) purpose is to provide junior high and high school educators with helpful information they can use to enhance their environmental science lesson plans.

Massa's knowledge and experience -- a Ph.D. in geological sciences and five years working for the Environmental Protection Agency -- made her well-suited to create the innovative web site.

"Through this web site you can learn about the serious health risks that are induced through dangerous car emissions," Massa, who teaches courses in environmental management, said. "This educational site tells what car owners and drivers can do to solve these problems."

MSU is located at the intersection of Valley Road and Normal Avenue in Upper Montclair. The campus is one mile south of the junction of routes 3 and 46, 14 miles west of New York City.

More information on the University is available on its website: www.montclair.edu.
