Financial Aid
Making college affordable
When you have what it takes to be a student at Montclair State University, we work hard to make sure that you’re not turned away for financial reasons. Our Office of Student Financial Aid lets you know how to secure grants, scholarships, work study, and loans — funds that will enable you to focus on your education and achieve your goals.
If you need help with college costs, you’re not alone. Last year, nearly 70 percent of our fulltime undergraduate students applied for need-based financial aid. Of those determined to be in need, we were able to secure financial aid for 97 percent. The average amount we awarded to these students was $9,051.
Application Process
As soon as you’re accepted, simply fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Like most other schools, Montclair State uses the information on the form to determine your level of need and what kind of financial aid you are eligible for.
Financial Aid Checklist
After you’ve submitted your FAFSA form, what then? Our handy checklist lets you know about other deadlines you shouldn’t miss.
Cost Calculator
How much does college cost, anyway? Our cost calculator lets you estimate your annual fees for tuition, room and board, and other expenses.
