As a transfer student, you need to attend a MANDATORY Transfer and Adult Learning Orientation (TALO) session where you will learn how to plan your first schedule, become acclimated with the campus, and meet with an Academic Advisor. The Center of Academic Advising & Adult Learning(CAA&AL) coordinates Orientation.
As a transfer student, you will able to access your Analysis of Academic Progress (i.e. Credit Evaluation) within 10 business days from the receipt of the acceptance letter. The credit evaluation will tell you how your courses are transferring over and what courses you have left to complete in order to receive your degree from Montclair. To learn more about the Analysis of Academic Progress and how to access it, visit the CAAAL website.
After you review your Analysis of Academic Progress, you are eligible to register for courses. By comparing the information on your Analysis to the courses being offered during the upcoming semester, you can begin to build your schedule through WESS.
To be considered for federal and state financial aid, as well as any merit or non-merit based scholarships, make sure you complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the MARCH 1 PRIORITY DEADLINE.
Placement tests are administered to incoming transfer students with fewer than 24 college credits in order to ascertain the proper course level for each student. Please complete the Placement Test Reply Form to schedule your placement testing or to indicate your exemption status. Failure to complete the Reply Form may result in difficulties with registration for courses. Review the Foreign Language Placement Announcement and complete the registration form.
To ensure the health of our students, all incoming students are required to submit the MSU Immunization Form. Please bring this form to your physician for completion.
Students who have paid their admissions acceptance and housing deposits ($205) must fill out housing forms. Keep in mind that housing is on a first-come, first-served basis and is NOT GUARANTEED. To improve your chances of receiving housing, please send in your housing deposit before May 1.
After you have completed all courses in progress, be sure to submit a final transcript from ALL colleges and/or universities you have attended. If you are receiving an Associate’s Degree, be sure that the degree has been posted before the transcript is sent to Montclair.
