Tuition Waiver Application Process for Prospective Montclair State Students

Step One - Pre-Qualification

  1. Meet with your NJ Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development Counselor (visit our Application Information page for program dates and deadlines) and obtain the following documentation:
    1. Employability Development Plan
    2. Workforce NJ Certification/Referral
    3. Copy of your One Stop Career Center ID
  2. Contact the appropriate Admissions Office and submit an application for Pre-Qualification to Apply for the Unemployment Tuition Waiver Program along with all required application fees
    1. Undergraduate Admissions
    2. Graduate Admissions
  3. File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the University for the 2012-2013 academic year
  4. Wait for the Admissions decision letter.
  5. If the decision letter verifies you are pre-qualified to apply for the tuition waiver, then you will receive a detailed email message from the Director including log-in instructions to complete the online Tuition Waiver for Unemployed Persons Student Application
  6. Once the above steps are completed, come to the Admissions main lobby front desk to drop off all a completed application documention for review.

Step Two - Application Review

  1. 1. A completed tuition waiver application includes the following:
    1. Tuition Waiver for Unemployed Persons Student Application (submitted online
    2. Employability Development Plan
    3. Workforce NJ Certification/Referral
    4. Copy of your One Stop Career Center ID
  2. The application will be reviewed and a decision rendered within 5-7 business days.
  3. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
  4. All decision notifications will be issued via email.
