With 17 varsity sports for men and women, Montclair State University athletics has one of the most competitive programs around. Montclair State competes in the highest of Division III conferences, including the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Skyline, and Knickerbocker conferences. The newly renovated Panzer Athletic Center gives our student athletes world-class facilities in which to train.
To date, Montclair State has captured five NCAA Division III national championships, witnessed over 260 of its athletes named as All- Americans, and was the 2009 host of the NCAA National Softball Championship. With the assistance of our academic services for athletes, our student athletes receive quality advising that enables them to succeed in the classroom as well as on the playing fields. In the 2008-2009 academic year alone, 63 Montclair State students were named to the NJAC Academic Honor Roll.
Our athletic alumni roster includes the WNBA New York Liberty’s president and general manager, Carol Blazejowski; Mike Fratello, professional basketball coach and sports commentator; and former Carolina Panthers linebacker coach, the late Sam Mills, who was just enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.
