As the second largest university in New Jersey, Montclair State University has an extremely diverse campus community. Our Center for Student Involvement’s goal is to provide clubs, organizations, activities and events to meet the needs of all of our students. Our brand-new, state-of-the-art, 78,000-square-foot Student Recreation Center features a six-lane swimming pool; a two-court gymnasium with an elevated running track; two racquetball courts; two-level fitness, strength and cardio training areas; space for aerobics and other fitness activities; locker rooms; and a snack bar.

College life isn’t all about the classroom. At Montclair State, you can choose from over 200 exciting extracurricular clubs. We also offer robust career services and community-based learning programs that help you discover your aptitudes and uncover future career possibilities.

Safety is a Priority

Every student at Montclair State has the right to feel safe and secure in their environment. To that end, we have taken precautions to ensure their safety and protect our campus community, including having a full-time police force on campus and having students register their cell phones so they can receive emergency text alerts. In addition, with certain phones/phone plans, students can have access to GPS technology that enables the police to pinpoint the user’s precise location if he/she signals for help.

Montclair State was recently honored with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award, which is presented each year by Security On Campus, Inc., to honor schools and individuals who have taken extraordinary measures to prevent violence, substance abuse and other crimes in college and university campus communities across the United States.
