Barnet/Segal: It Runs in the Family
The talents of second generation artists, Peter Barnet and Rena Segal—the son and daughter of famed contemporary artists Will Barnet and George Segal—are the focus of Barnet/Segal: It Runs in the Family, an art exhibition at Montclair State University’s George Segal Gallery, until April 14, 2012. Through 50 paintings equally divided between the two artists, this exhibition explores the unique niche each has found as the offspring of a famous artist while also presenting a pairing of painters whose works are complimentary in color, media, and subject choice. On April 27th and 28th, Montclair State University will host Relay For Life, an overnight relay-style event to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. Women's Outdoor Track and Field Ranked in USTFCCCA Preseason Poll
The Montclair State women's outdoor track and field team was ranked No. 33 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Preseason Division III poll recently announced. The Red Hawks, who are off to a fast start after posting several personal bests at Virginia Commonwealth's Rams Invite on March 17, also placed two athletes in the Top 10 in their respective events. Jeff Zarrillo '95
Jeff Zarrillo ’95 recently returned to campus for the one night only performance of “8”, the play about Proposition 8. Zarrillo, one of the original plaintiffs in the case, now lives in California, but came back to Montclair State University to see the play as well as to participate in a Q&A session after the performance. When asked about his recent visit, Zarrillo says: “Coming back to campus was an amazing feeling. I had dropped by about a year ago for the first time in years to buy a tee-shirt and see some of my old professors. I can’t believe how built up the campus is now.." [View full details]

Viviana Bernal ’08 and Katherine McGhee ’10 have been chosen out of hundreds of applicants to present a workshop at the 2012 Forum of the Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) in Istanbul, Turkey. The Forum runs from April 19-22, and takes place every three years, bringing together women leaders from all corners of the globe, with the intention of creating a better, more just and sustainable world for all. Bernal earned her degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and is now a Program Assistant for the program. McGhee studied Anthropology and minored in Women’s and Gender Studies as well.[View full details]
