The Vivien L. Kwiatek Scholarship is Alumna’s Lasting Legacy

The name Kwiatek means “flower” in Polish. Thanks to the generosity of the Kwiatek family, an alumna’s legacy of education will blossom and be celebrated at her alma mater for many years to come. Dr. Vivien L. Kwiatek ’65 ’69 MA was a gifted scholar and valedictorian of her high school class. She was awarded a New Jersey State scholarship to attend Montclair State. [View full details]

Women's Soccer Places Four on NSCAA South Atlantic All-Region Team

Juniors Gina Policastro, Jessica Bonjione, Kerry Glynn and Kaila Fasano were each named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America South Atlantic All-Region Team released on Monday. It is the second straight season that the Red Hawks placed four players on the NSCAA All-Region Team and received its first First-Team accolades since goalkeeper Kristin Kuhmann was chosen in 2006. Herman "Bud" Meyers '65

Fifty years ago, on November 22, 1963, Montclair State junior Bud Meyers ’65 was sitting in an afternoon British Lit class when news that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated in Dallas, Texas, swept the country. “The campus was stunned,” Meyers recalls. “Professor Young attempted to continue his lecture, but within about 20 minutes, we all quietly left the classroom.” [View full details]

Alex Verduin '12

Alex Verduin ’12 was a powerhouse through her Montclair State years. When she met Professor Christopher Cottle during her freshman year, he encouraged her to go into teaching and to take extra classes each semester. She did, and took eighteen or nineteen credits every semester afterward. She wanted to get her requirements done, get into the teacher program, and begin her career. [View full details]
