Alumni Use LinkedIn and other Social Media to Get and
Ace Interviews!
Nearly 100 alumni came back to campus to attend the second seminar in the Career Resource Seminar Series, "Use LinkedIn and other Social Media to Get and Ace Interviews, on April 7. The evening featured Robert Hellman, a certified Five O'Clock Club Career Coach, a Vice President at the Club, a professor at New York University, and author of the book Your Social Media Job Search. The Five O’Clock Club is a national outplacement and career counseling network with certified career counselors across the United States. Hellman introduced strategies, techniques, and resources on how to use LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media to maximize one’s job search. While participants learned how to utilize these essential tools, the evening was a great opportunity for alumni to network with professionals in their field.
The office of Alumni Relations continues to develop monthly Career Resource Seminars, which feature guest speakers discussing the tools necessary to move forward during a career transition / job search. Look in your in box for invitations to the next sessions:

Help Paint Montclair State University’s Future
Broadcast major, Christine Devenney ′06, recently shared her college experience at the University’s Freshman Discovery Day. Devenney is one of many alumni who are giving back to their alma mater by joining the Alumni Recruitment Team, a group of alumni who support the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in recruitment efforts.

2011 Foundation Annual Dinner to Benefit the
School of Business
The Montclair State University Foundation Annual Dinner, will be held Thursday, April 28, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the University Hall Conference Center. With the theme, “Our Students are Your Business,” this year’s event will focus on the exciting developments taking place in the University’s School of Business.
The Annual Dinner is also the occasion for the presentation of the Carpe Diem Award, presented annually to a distinguished alumni or friend of the University for outstanding professional and personal achievements.The honoree for 2011 is Douglas L. Kennedy, State President, New Jersey for Capital One Bank. Kennedy is not only one of the state’s most successful banking executives, but has been a member of Montclair State University’s Board of Trustees for more than a decade, and currently serves as its chair.
