Phi Mu Sinfonia - 50th Anniversary Celebration
The Office of Alumni Relations is working in conjunction with Ron Owens ’65 and Thomas Ubriaco III ’07 to plan the 50th Anniversary celebration of the founding of the Lambda Mu Chapter at Montclair State, which will be held on March 31, 2012.

It is with pleasure that I greet you on this April day and hope that you all feel, as do I, the wonderful, energizing gift of spring. Foundation Annual Dinner is a Glittering Success
Carpe Diem Award presented to Douglas Kennedy and $300,000 raised for the School of Business

In a Conference Center transformed by Montclair State University students to look like a glittering cityscape, more than 300 members of the corporate, philanthropic, and University communities gathered on April 28 for the 2011 Montclair State University Foundation Annual Dinner. The dinner is held each year to honor the Carpe Diem Award recipient and to raise funds for the University.

Montclair State University Welcomes Dr. Teresa Fiore
Theresa and Lawrence R. Inserra Endowed Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies

Dr. Teresa Fiore, the Theresa and Lawrence R. Inserra Endowed
Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies, was welcomed formally to the academic community on April 4th, in an exceptional program sponsored by the Provost, University Advancement, CHSS’s Department of Spanish and Italian, the Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America and the Amici della Cultura Italiana Club. The site for this festive occasion was University Hall’s impressive Conference Center, the same venue in which MSU President Susan Cole had hosted on February 18, 2009 a celebration of the establishment of the Inserra Chair.

In what has become an annual celebration, Montclair State University faculty, staff, and administrators gathered in the Periodicals Reading Room of the Sprague Library on April 18 to recognize members of the University community who have had books published in the past year and to view their work. Women's Soccer Alumnae Game 
More than 20 alumnae hit the field at the annual Montclair State University Women's Soccer Alumnae Game on April 8. The current Montclair State women’s soccer team defeated the alumnae
team, 3-0.

A Long and Winding Road 
Joan Ficke ’71 was recently named
dean of The Graduate School at Montclair State University.
Over her 34-year career at Montclair State, Dr. Ficke has served in several key positions in Academic Affairs, director of the Women’s Center, and most recently as the University’s senior vice provost. Today, as the dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Ficke’s goal is to encourage more students to continue their education past undergraduate work – on to the many opportunities available at the graduate and doctoral levels.
