Commencement 2014

Montclair State University held its 2014 Commencement exercises on Friday, May 23, at the Izod Center at New Jersey’s Meadowlands Sports Complex, conferring 4,382 degrees in science and mathematics, humanities and the social sciences, business, the arts and education. The Class of 2014, which is the largest in University history, includes 3,210 undergraduates and 1,172 graduate students. [View full details]

Pitching for the Prize

It was a fashion item for the bottom of shoes that rose to the top to win the $10,000 prize in the first-ever student pitch competition at Montclair State University. The five students on the winning team, Sport Your Sole, will split the $10,000 award in the TeleBrands Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs held May 13 on campus. Some students plan to invest the money in the business while others plan to put their award toward student loans. [View full details]

The PSEG Foundation has awarded a $1 million grant to Montclair State University’s PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies to support future research activities and collaborative educational programs that are directed at fostering a sustainable and resilient New Jersey. [View full details]

Creating a Family Legacy

Montclair State University announced a $1 million irrevocable planned gift established by alumna Rita E. Ranucci ’64 to create The Ranucci Family Legacy at a ceremony dedicating The Ranucci Family Rehearsal Hall. In addition to the naming of the choral rehearsal hall, located in Chapin Hall, the University has recognized the planned gift by establishing an endowed fund within the Montclair State University Foundation to support priorities of the president. Hill Selected New Jersey Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for Second Time

Senior softball righthander Alex Hill added another piece of hardware to her already long list of awards and honors as she was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for the second time in her career.
