Charley Friedman: installation, sculpture, video.
Friedman has pursued his distinctive aesthetic vision in drawing, sculpture, photography, performance, video and through installations. Friedman says art is the comic practice of hope, not a tragic enactment of despair, which is often the case in the contemporary art world. Friedman earned a Master's in Fine Art from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston/Tufts University program in 1996. He also attended the Skowhegan School of Art and was a resident at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in Omaha. His work has been exhibited in group shows at the Cooper Union, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, PS1/Institute of Contemporary Art, and the Aljira Center for Contemporary Art. He has had solo exhibitions at White Columns, Barbara Mathes Gallery, and the Queens Museum in New York.
