
Josette Urso: Painter/collage artist.
Josette Urso received her MFA/Painting from the University of South Florida and currently works in New York City. In her presentation at Montclair State University, she will discuss her current involvement with collage, oil painting and drawing while also commenting on the evolution her work has taken. Urso has had numerous grants and residencies, including, in 2008, a second Pollock-Krasner Foundation award and a residency at the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus in Germany. She traveled to Taiwan for a residency at STOCK20 in 2006 and to Cambodia with the AIEP American Artist’s Abroad program in 2004. Other awards include those from
the NEA and Art Matters, and she was a participant in the Bronx Museum for the Arts AIM program. In New York
City, she has shown at the Drawing Center, DFN Gallery, Julie Saul Gallery, lyonswier Gallery, Kerrigan Campbell art+projects, and Sears-Peyton Gallery and, in Chicago, at the Gescheidle Gallery.
