Visiting Artist

Linda Hattendorf: Director/Producer.
Hattendorf was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and holds degrees in Literature, Art History, and Media Studies. She has worked in the documentary community in New York City for more than a decade. THE CATS OF MIRIKITANI is Linda Hattendorf’s directorial debut. It won the Audience Award at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, and more than 25 awards at festivals in Norway, Japan, France, Korea, Bermuda, Ireland, and South Africa, and across the US. "Make art not war" is 80-year old Jimmy Mirikitani's motto. This Japanese American artist survived the trauma of WWII internment camps, Hiroshima, and homelessness by creating art. When 9/11 threatens his life on the streets of New York City, a local filmmaker brings him to her home, and the two embark on a journey to confront Jimmy's painful past.
