Performance
|
Performance is a vital part of the education of students in all of our programs. We expect them to grow in their specialties and as musicians throughout their lives. Students enjoy many opportunities to perform in ensembles of all sizes. We offer a series of concerts, Wednesdays at One, that focuses on performances by students, faculty and guest artists in small ensembles. Our annual Kaleidoscope concerts each fall offer multiple soloists and small and large ensembles performing many styles of music. Our large ensembles perform several times a year in the acoustically acclaimed Kasser Theater. We present nearly 200 concerts a year by faculty, students, guest artists, and our ensemble-in-residence, the Shanghai Quartet. These include performances of early music by Collegium Musicum, classical, jazz and contemporary works by the MSU Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony, MSU Symphony Orchestra, University Singers, MSU Chorale, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band, Harry Partch Ensemble, and more. |
