CO-SPONSORED BY MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF ART AND DESIGN, MASTER OF FINE ARTS PROGRAM AND THE MONTCLAIR ART MUSEUM.

Please arrive early. The galleries will have extended hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets to the lecture include admission to the current exhibition on the day of the program

Holland Cotter, chief art critic at The New York Times, awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2009. In 2010, he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for Art Writing by the College Art Association. He was for many years a contributing editor at Art in America. Please arrive early.

7:00 PM JOHN ELDERFIELD
John Elderfield, Ph.D., is chief curator emeritus of painting and sculpture at MoMA, as well as curator of their most recent De Kooning exhibition. De Kooning is widely considered to be among the most important and prolific artists of the 20th century. Dr. Elderfield’s MoMA exhibition is the first major museum exhibition devoted to the full scope of the artist’s career. Elderfield has been the recipient of numerous fellowships for his work, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and an associate fellowship at the American Academy in Rome. In addition, the French government awarded him an Officier des Arts et des Lettres.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, ADMISSION TO THE LECTURE IS $10 FOR MAM MEMBERS, $15 FOR NON-MEMBERS AND FREE WITH MSU IDENTIFICATION.
