Step Two  Interview with the Department of Broadcasting

After a preliminary application review, new students may be invited to attend an interview with the Department of Broadcasting. (Please note that an interview invitation is not a guarantee of academic acceptance into the university.) Upon receipt of the interview invitation, applicants should respond as directed to schedule their appointments.

Interviewees are to bring the following to their appointment:

    • A resume of extracurricular activities (e.g. jobs, volunteer work, organizations, student newspaper, sports teams, etc.) including, if any, experience related to electronic media or other creative production.
    • Transfer applicants: Copies of transcripts from ALL colleges attended (need not be official transcripts).

Notification following the interview

Generally within one week following the broadcasting interview, the department forwards its acceptance recommendations to the Admissions Office. At the conclusion of the interview the Department forwards its recommendations to the Admissions Office , which in turn notifies students of their overall status (normally within three weeks.) (Note: MSU students applying for a change of major instead receive their reply directly from the Department of Broadcasting.)

Information Sessions

Each Broadcasting interview session begins with an Orientation to the Department presentation. These sessions are open to non-applicants interested in the major and applicants who have not yet scheduled an interview. Students attending a Broadcasting Orientation, moreover, may wish to schedule a tour of the campus in the afternoon.

To register for a Broadcasting Information Session (if you are not already scheduled for an interview), call 973.655.7870.
