About the Department

Welcome to the Department of Communication Studies.
You love "working with people". You know you want a professional career where you can interact with the public, work in teams, organize activities or provide valuable service. You may imagine yourself speaking at a podium, pitching a great idea or being an effective organizational leader. At the same time you know personality alone is not going to get you there. It will take education and skills; experience and contacts. The programs in the Department of Communication Studies at Montclair State University may be just what you need
The Department of Communication Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication Studies with a choice of three concentrations : Public Relations, Organizational Communication and Speech Communication. The programs focus on the theory and practice of communication with emphases on research, writing, oral presentation and visual communication skills applicable to almost any career area or interest. On the graduate level, the Master of Arts (M.A.) in Public and Organizational Relations advances these skills to the next level, preparing students for leadership roles in corporate, non-profit and/or public arenas.
Comm Studies at MSU offers great flexibility and practical training.
