The programs in the Department of Theatre & Dance combine professional training with a liberal arts education to provide a comprehensive experience for all our students.  A highly respected professional faculty is complemented by guest artists of international renown. The proximity of our beautiful suburban campus to New York City, just 14 miles away, offers students opportunity to experience the best in professional theater and dance, both on- and off-Broadway, as well as access to internships, audition opportunities and all of the city's cultural resources.  While course offerings are numerous, small classes and personalized attention ensure that students do not get lost in the crowd.

The Department of Theatre & Dance offers undergraduate and graduate programs addressing a broad spectrum of academic needs and professional goals.  The pre-professional Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in Dance, Acting, Musical Theatre, and Production/Design are ideal for students who wish to become professional performers and practitioners.  Alternatively, the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Theatre Studies is ideal for those wanting more broad-based preparation for careers in theater or theater-related fields.  Our Master of Arts (MA) degree, with concentrations in Theatre Studies, Production/Stage Management and Arts Management prepares students for a diversity of careers.

A variety of performance spaces provide the laboratories for students to hone their theatrical skills, from acting, singing and dancing to scenic, lighting and costume design.  Students continually apply theories and ideas learned in the classroom to a diversity of performance activities.

We in the Department of Theatre and Dance take pride in our outstanding academic and professional curricula, the exceptional quality of our faculty, and the continuing success of our graduates.

The Department of Theatre and Dance is an accredited institutional member of both the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD)
