Prof. Elizabeth del Alamo Receives Prestigious Appointment

April 21, 2008
Elizabeth Valdez del Álamo, Professor of Art History in the Department of Art and Design, has been appointed to a three-year term as Coordinator of the Census of Doctoral Dissertations in Medieval Art for the International Center of Medieval Art (ICMA). She will be sharing her responsibilities with Professor Stephen Lamia of the Department of Visual Arts at Dowling College. The ICMA’s Census of Doctoral Dissertations is international in scope, unlike the majority of such lists which are national and not always in electronic form. It is, therefore, an important resource for scholars and students of medieval art, and is listed on the “Resources” page of the ICMA web site:
http://www.medievalart.org/htm/resources.html.
Montclair State University’s College of the Arts and the Department of Art and Design are supporting the Census by hosting its pages on the university web site. The Census may be found at:
http://www.montclair.edu/arts/dept/artdesign/1982-93medcensus.html
http://www.montclair.edu/arts/dept/artdesign/medievalcensus.html
Professor del Álamo served as an Advisor and member of the ICMA Board from 2001-2005. She chaired the Advocacy Committee that wrote the Code of Ethics for historians of medieval art, also posted on the ICMA web site.

The College of the Arts Announces an Arts Living Community In Freeman Hall

Are you a visual, performing or communication arts student who would enjoy living and engaging with artists of all disciplines? The College of the Arts’ Arts Interdisciplinary Living Community (AILC) may be the environment you are looking for. Comprised of students majoring in art & design, music, theatre, dance, broadcasting and/or communication studies, the AILC occupies a floor in the Freeman Residence Hall on the south end of the campus – just across from the Cali School of Music and a few minutes walk from all of the college’s visual arts and performance facilities.

But AILC is not just about convenience. It is about students with creative and multidisciplinary interests living together . . . sharing their passions and challenges and discovering their common ground. The AILC is primarily for new incoming students, however, a few spaces will be made available for enrolled students. More information may be found on the AILC webpage.
