“WORKING THE ROOM”
A Panel Discussion with:
“Working the Room” is A panel discussion with Elana Herzog, Mary Temple & Almond Zigmund. MATTHEW NICHOLS WILL Moderate The Panel. “Working the Room” brings together three New York-area artists at different stages of their respective careers. While each artist employs unique materials and techniques, they all work directly on the walls and floors of various exhibition spaces. Their site-responsive works interrogate our built environments, toy with viewers’ spatial perceptions and explore distinctions between private and public arenas. Matthew Nichols is the 2009 visiting critic for the MSU MFA program. He writes regularly for Art in America magazine. Elana Herzog’s recent exhibitions include a COLLABORATION at the Aldrich Museum and a solo exhibition at Smack Mellon. She has received two grants from NYFA and a joan mitchell grant. Mary Temple has also exhibited at Smack Mellon and more recently at the BROOKLYN MUSEUM of Art. A selection of Almond Zigmund’s work is part of the permanent collection of the NEW MUSEUM in New York.
