It
seems like we just launched the inaugural issue of our College of the Arts e-News (last spring), and
here we are, already in full swing with the fall 2009 semester.
A
lot has been happening in the college since my last writing. For starters, the College
of the Arts now has a dedicated career services director. Meet Elaine Russo and
learn about the expanded career development opportunities for our students and
alumni. Our new “Arts Living Community”
is also off and running, now in its second year and doubled in size. Discover
how our students majoring in theatre, dance, art, music, communication studies
and broadcasting are living together and exploring their common ground. Then be
sure to check out the Andy Warhol article. The George Segal Gallery is delighted
to be presenting a unique exhibition of the artist’s photographs (running
through Dec. 12) - as well as acquiring the work for its permanent collection!
These
are just snippets of what is going on in the College of the Arts. In the Academic
Departments: On the Move section, and throughout our newsletter, you may find news
about your favorite professor or fellow alumnus, as well as new developments in
all of our programs. We’re also excited about our cultural calendar of Peak Performances, Segal Gallery
exhibitions, and our Art Forum series
representing all genres and disciplines.
Of course none of this happens without the tremendous support of our
donors and friends. I hope our “Thank You to Donors” and “Alumni” sections
express how much we value our supporters and friends.
On
the heels of celebrating our centennial anniversary, Montclair State
University, including the College of the Arts, is setting goals for the next
ten years. We look forward to the next decade in realizing those goals – in
partnership with all of you, who are a part of it.
Once
again, welcome to College of the Arts’
E-News – Fall 2009.
Dr. Geoffrey W. Newman
Dean, College of the Arts
