FRANK H. GRANITO JR., ESQ. made very special gifts to Montclair State in honor of his beloved wife HELEN ALTIERI GRANITO ’55 (affectionately known as Betty) and his late brother-in-law, PETER MICHAEL ALTIERI ’62. Mr. Granito gave a gift to name Betty’s former dormitory room on the third floor of the renovated Chapin Hall (the new home for the John J. Cali School of Music) for her, with a lovely plaque and picture that will let generations of students know about one wonderful person who came before them, as well as Frank and Betty’s enduring love. Betty was an English major and a member of Phi Gamma Tau sorority as a student. She was voted Campus Queen in her freshman year at Montclair State at the spring 1952 dance. Since graduation, Betty kept in contact with her dearest friend and classmate, JOAN BLACHFIELD ’55 (née Doyle). The Granitos have four children and 16 grandchildren.

MSU’s College of the Arts hosted a “kick off” party at the home of ROSE AND JOHN CALI on Sunday, September 13th. Among the guests were alumni, students and friends of the College and representatives from several collaborative institutions including the Montclair Art Museum, the Montclair Public Library, the Montclair Foundation for Educational Excellence, NJPAC, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and others. A highlight of the afternoon was a lighthearted review performed by musical theater students under the direction of Clay James.
