Communication Studies To Team with ACER for 3D laptop computer
From classical singing to 21st century high tech, ACER Computers has introduced the world’s first 3-D laptop, and the computer will be on display at a gaming event to be hosted at Montclair State. While final details are still being worked out, it will be the first time people can see the new Aspire 5738DG and then “test drive” a 3-D gaming experience. Professor LARRY WEINER is working with John Cowan, the president of M3-Media, a company based in Mendham, NJ that coordinates events for ACER Worldwide. Montclair State students will be responsible for planning and promoting the event to the public. James Cameron’s film, Avatar, has introduced 3-D technology to a new generation of moviegoers and other 3-D features are also scheduled for release this year. In addition, the first television sets with 3-D technology have recently been rolled out. Current 3-D technology will still require the use of glasses, even though a number of television sets aim to introduce 3-D without the glasses sometime this year.

Public Relations Students to Help Promote
Academy Award Winning Actress Shirley Jones’ 9/11 California Memorial
Montclair State’s public relations students are reaching across the country and within the entertainment world to help Hollywood legend, Academy Award winning actress, Shirley Jones in her effort to raise awareness for Jones’ Fawn Park; California’s memorial to 9/11. Jones has done a number of television interviews asking for donations to help support the memorial park. During a recent trip to Los Angeles, Communication Studies’ professor LARRY WEINER worked with Jones on a project for Serius/XM Satellite Radio and approached the actress with an offer to help. “While she was ecstatic, she told me about offers to help in the past that never came to fruition,” said Weiner. “I’m confident our students can help create the appropriate public relations materials and implement the right strategies to gain greater awareness of Fawn Park and its need for donors.”

Communication Studies Public Relations Students Announce Impressive List of New Client Work
MSU Public Relations Management
students, working in conjunction with members of the Public Relations Student
Society of America (PRSSA), will be performing public relations activities for
a broad range of clients that include well-known healthcare and entertainment
accounts. Perhaps the most well known of the new clients is the Metropolitan
Opera Guild, the educational and publishing arm of the world famous opera
company. The culmination of the year’s
work for the MET will be the inaugural Curtain Call Awards, which is a talent
competition for high school juniors and seniors. The finals of the semester long contest are
set for June 5th. The idea
of the Curtain Call Award is the brainchild of newly graduated Communication
Studies student, JENNA ROCCA.
According to MET Guild Director of Communication, Jesse Cohen, “The Curtain
Call is entirely consistent with our educational outreach to high schools and
we expect the event will become an extremely popular annual contest."
