Promoting the arts as belonging to all of us, regardless of disciplinary training, is a central concept of the Creative Research Center. When Professors Mary Lou West and Ashwin Vaidya came to the Center with the encouragement and blessing of College of Science and Mathematics Dean Robert Prezant, the Center was thrilled to take part in this project. The result of this collaboration is the First Annual Physics and Art Student Photo Competition.
The exhibition opened on Friday, April 23, in the Sokol Room in Science Hall and remains on view through the end of the semester. In addition to hearing a special lecture on “Art and Physics” by Professor Jun Zhang, Professor of Physics at NYU, and a presentation on “The Ophiuchus Constellation” by Dr. West, attendees viewed the art and spoke with student artists. The exhibit is also available online at the CRC’s Virtual Student Center.
