There will be a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Open Studio Tour at Montclair State University’s MFA Gallery this Sunday, March 27, from 1-5 p.m. in Finley Hall.
The MSU Master of Fine Arts Open Studio Tour showcases works being produced by candidates pursuing their master’s degree in Fine Arts in studio degree at Montclair State University. The tour will give viewers intimate access to a diverse blend of talents of those working in varied mediums, reflecting the interdisciplinary focus of the MFA program.
Accompanying the event will be a small-works benefit produced by the MFA students, faculty, and visiting artists who support the program. The proceeds will go to an Art Department Scholarship that will support outstanding students in the program.
The MFA Gallery will also exhibit alumni artists who have been advancing careers since obtaining their degree and who represent the fruits of the first 10 years of the program.
The Open Studio Tour celebrates the Master of Fine Arts Program's Tenth Year Anniversary. Since its inauguration, the program has invited an exceptional group of artists, curators, and visiting critics to work with the students. Among them are Roberta Smith, Jerry Saltz, Elizabeth Peyton, Eleanor Heartney, Arthur C. Danto, James Rosenquist, Phillip Pearlstein, William Wegman, Julie Heffernan, and Dana Schutz.
