Yogi Berra Stadium is one of the premier college athletic facilities at any level in the country. The stadium which was built as part of a public/private partnership with Floyd Hall Enterprises and New Jersey’s Educational Facilities Authority, is also the home to the Independent New Jersey Jackals, the 2001 and 2002 Northern League champions. The 3,900 seat stadium features
lawn seating that could raise the seating capacity to 7,000, and
is also home to the Yogi Berra Museum. The Museum is a private,
not-for-profit learning center, which features baseball memorabilia
and numerous educational workshops on the history of baseball.
The stadium is named for Lawrence “Yogi” Berra, the legendary
New York Yankee catcher, who is a long time resident of Montclair,
NJ. The honor was bestowed upon Berra not only for his unparalleled
baseball career but also for his humanitarian work on behalf of
disabled children.
