MONTCLAIR STATE TO FACE ROWAN IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA DIVISION III TOURNAMENT

Montclair, NJ (5/5/08) The Montclair State women's lacrose team will stay home in the state of New Jersey for their opening round game of the NCAA Division III Tournament as the Red Hawks will face a familiar foe in Rowan University on Wednesday, May 7 at 7:00 pm in Glassboro.

The winner of the contest will advance to the regional tournament on Saturday, May 10 at Salisbury University (MD) and will face the winner of the Catholic (DC) / Christopher Newport contest.

This will be the second meeting between the team this season as MSU defeated the Profs, 13-8 at Sprague Field on April 19. Senior Bethany Blaine (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) and junior Marykate DiBenedetto (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) each scored five goals as Montclair recorded its second straight win against the Profs after 13 consecutive losses dating back to 1980.

Montclair State earned its way into the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and second in program history as the Red Hawks topped Kean, 15-4 to claim the Skyline Conference championship. Blaine was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament as Montclair took its third consecutive conference title.

The Red Hawks enter the game at 9-7 overall.
