The Center for Academic Development and Assessment provides
individual and group sessions on study strategies and learning
techniques. Individual and group tutorial sessions are also offered in
a variety of academic areas. The areas of more demand are Mathematics,
Biology, Chemistry, Foreign Languages, English Writing and Psychology.
Our master and peer tutors have excelled in their
particular subject area and are trained on strategies to best assist
students.

recommended to guarantee immediate attention, services are offered on a
"drop in" basis. The tutoring hours are:

CAD&A offers a variety of workshops that target specific
skills needed to succeed at Montclair State University. Students attending the workshops have
an opportunity to exchange ideas and concerns with tutors, faculty and
staff. They learn how to take effective class notes, enhance listening
skills, build strategies in writing, take exams, and find efficient
ways to cope with academic related anxiety. Among the most requested
workshops are the following:

| Another
important component of the Center is the assessment of students for
course placement. CAD&A coordinates and administers the Montclair State University Placement Test (MSUPT)
to all entering freshmen, readmitted and transferred students with
fewer than 26 transferable credit hours. In addition, the Math Readiness Test is administered (in
collaboration with the Mathematical/Sciences Department to all
students. The Center also provides proctoring services for non-MSU
students and other testing agencies. |
