The German-born Marietta Hoferer received her MFA from the Hochschule
der Künste, Berlin, Germany. She has participated in numerous
exhibitions, including most recently in "Apparently Invisible: Spring
Selections 2009" at The Drawing Center in NYC and the 2009 Incheon
International Women Artists' Biennale in Seoul, Korea. Last year she
had her first solo exhibition at Galerie Mourlot in Manhattan. This
fall she will exhibit her work for the first time at KunstBüroBerlin in
Berlin, Germany. Hoferer has received more than 12 grants and
residencies from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA),
Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the MacDowell Colony, the Edward Albee
Foundation and others. Hoferer's work can be found in the permanent
collections of the Academy Art Museum, Easton, MD, the Busch-Reisinger
Museum, Harvard Art Museums, Kupferstichkabinett, Staatliche Museen zu
Berlin, Germany, among others. Hoferer will discuss the process of her
white, transparent and reductive work. She will also talk about
building an artist career and the steps she has taken in the highly
competitive NYC art world.
