Resident Assistant Application Deadline

A Montclair State University Resident Assistant (RA) is a student leader and employee of the Office of Residence Life that lives in the residence halls and provides support to students.

RAs are often described as community builders, role models, peer educators, crisis managers, administrators, and team players. Key responsibilities include:

  • Spending time connecting with students
  • Introducing residents to campus resources
  • Program planning
  • Participating in a duty rotation

Who Is Eligible?

  1. All current Montclair State University students (as of fall 2014), residents and commuters, can apply.
  2. You must have a clear conduct history and a 2.5 GPA.
  3. If hired, staff members must be enrolled as full-time students.
  4. You must be able to commit to the contract for the full academic year and will need to arrive early for training prior to the start of each semester and stay after each semester ends to assist with closing the residence halls.

Compensation

The compensation package includes a single room and new RAs receive a $3,000 stipend annually. Returning RAs receive an increase in their stipend and are eligible for advanced leadership opportunities in the Office of Residence Life.

Applications for 2015-2016 Academic Year

We are currently hiring RAs for the 2015-2016 academic year. Applications will be available from September 12, 2014-November 3, 2014. Interviews will take place in the spring 2015 semester.
