About the Project

The Clothesline Project originated in 1990 to address the issue of violence against women and it provides an opportunity for individuals affected by violence to express their emotions and stories by decorating a shirt. The shirts are then hung on a clothesline for exhibition as testimony to the problem of violence. All gender identities and sexual/affectional orientations are encouraged to participate in The Clothesline Project at Montclair State University.

How You Can Contribute to the Project

Members of Montclair State University and Essex County will be able to contribute to the Clothesline Project on Wednesday, October 22 from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the Student Center Quad.

Share a personal story or story of a friend, family member, or peer of sexual assault, battering, rape, incest, abuse, victimization or discrimination due to gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or death by violence.
