Dr. Wolfgang is the Director of Field Investigations and Extension Veterinarian in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at Penn State.

Dr. Wolfgang is a 1982 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and a native to Central Pennsylvania. He worked in mixed animal private practice in Shippensburg, PA from 1982 through June 1993, and in Warriors Mark, PA from June 1993 through October 1995. Both practices had an emphasis on large animals.  Since October 1995, Dr. Wolfgang has been Director of Field Investigations and Extension Veterinarian in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at Penn State.  

Having been active in local and state veterinary organizations, Dr. Wolfgnag was president of the Pennsylvania State Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) 2006 and has also served as Chair of the National Mastitis Council-Residue Avoidance Committee. From 2004 through 2009, he served as Chair of the Continuing Education Committee for PVMA.  Dr. Wolfgang has been the director for the past four Dairy Production Medicine (DPM) certificate programs (offered as a joint CE program by Penn State and the University of Pennsylvania).  He currently serves on the PA State Board of Veterinary Medicine. His primary areas of professional emphasis include: cost effective preventative health and diagnostic programs for livestock species, on farm food safety, animal well-being, and continuing education programs for veterinarians.
