Montclair State University’s PhD program in Mathematics Education prepares students for careers as mathematics educators at two- and four-year colleges, mathematics curriculum developers, researchers, leaders in school districts and educational agencies, and research-based teachers in the classrooms.

Students enter the program with a variety of experiences and interests (curricular, pedagogical, psychological, philosophical, etc.) related to mathematics education. Students work actively with doctoral faculty to refine their research interests throughout their course of study. As many of our students have experience teaching at the secondary and collegiate levels, their research has the benefit of being grounded in, and applicable to, practice.

Faculty will present an overview of the program and current students will speak about their experiences.  The information session will also provide for potential applicants to learn more about the application process.

Applications for Fall 2016 are accepted through February 15, 2016. Exceptional students considering full-time doctoral studies are eligible for an MSU Westerdahl Fellowship providing full tuition remission and $25K stipend per year for four years.

More information can be found at csam.montclair.edu/mathedphd or by contacting Dr. Mika Munakata, program director, at mathedphd@mail.montclair.edu.
