"Maximizing Happiness"

Utilitarianism, the moral theory that emphasizes maximizing well-being, or happiness, is extremely influential at the interpersonal level as well as at the political level.

We will read passages that help us to explore this range of influence, and we will consider criticisms of the theory.

Every Wednesday

Philosophy for Lunch happens every Wednesday from 12:00–1:00 p.m., Dickson Hall, Room 430.

What Is P4L?

Students and professors close-read and discuss a few of the greatest passages in the history of philosophy.
