A historical drama directed and produced by Ridley Scott, starring Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, and Jeremy Irons, the movie portrays the fictionalized life of Balian of Ibelin (ca. 1143-93). During the Crusades, Godfrey d’Ibelin, a respected knight, wants to maintain peace in the Holy Land. He goes on a quest to find his illegitimate son, Balian, a young French blacksmith who is mourning the loss of his wife and son. Godfrey convinces his son to accompany him on his mission. After the death of his father, Balian inherits his land as well as his title of Knight of Jerusalem, the city where Muslims, Christians and Jews cohabitated peacefully between the 2nd and 3rd crusades. This movie won the Oustanding Award for best Actor ( Orlando Bloom); the Satellite Award for Oustanding Score, and grossed $211.6 million at the Box Office.
