The members of the Belier family are deaf, except their daughter Paula, who is indispensable to her family, on their farm and in daily life. Their routine is disturbed when Paula’s exceptional singing talent is noticed by a music teacher, who strongly encourages her to go to Paris in order to participate in a Radio France contest. Paula’s dilemma is choosing between her family responsibilities and this exciting opportunity in Paris.  The movie won several awards, including Césars and Lumières for best actress.
