A $10,000 prize is at stake in Montclair State's version of "Shark Tank," where teams of student entrepreneurs will compete to determine who has the best pitch for their product/service innovation.
The third annual TeleBrands Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs will crown one student team the winner of bragging rights, and the $10,000 prize. Don't miss this day of anticipation and excitement, while cheering for our student teams.
Because of the growing interest in our entrepreneurship classes, the competition will be divided into two parts on May 4: a preliminary round with more than a dozen teams followed by the finalists' pitches.
A pizza lunch will be served between the two rounds of pitches. The event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to come for any part of the day.
9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Preliminary round pitches
12:30 - 2 p.m. Pizza lunch, awarding of Entrepreneurship Certificates, Promise Prize presentation
2 - 4:30 p.m. Final round of pitches judged by AJ Khubani, CEO and founder of TeleBrands, and a panel of judges
Registration is free, but please pre-register at the following meetup link: http://www.meetup.com/Montclair-Entrepreneurs/events/230292008/
The TeleBrands Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs is the culmination of two semesters of work in which Montclair State students created business models and marketing plans for their products/services, as well as hypothetical models for obtaining capital funding, all in conjunction with volunteer mentors. The students are pursuing a Certificate of Entrepreneurship, issued by the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship in the Feliciano School of Business at Montclair State University. The students have lived a true entrepreneurial experience during the school year, experiencing the hard work as well as frustrations they will face on the long road to launching a successful business. Seed capital for each team was funded by Guy Falzarano, founder and CEO of Lightbridge Academy.
Directions and parking info: Park in the Red Hawk Deck on campus, exit the deck on Level 5 and proceed straight up the walkway (soccer field will be on your left). At the new Feliciano School of Business building, turn right and go up the outdoor staircase. University Hall will be straight ahead once you reach the top of the steps. Campus map with directions. (Please note the map in that link is old--the tennis courts shown on the map is where the Feliciano School of Business building now stands.)
Come support these student entrepreneurs!
