Professor Claire Connolly is a distinguished Irish scholar and Professor of Modern English at University College Cork.  This talk emerges from her interest in the cultural politics of travel between Ireland and England, a topic that has inspired many poems and novels. Professor Connolly is the author of A Cultural History of the Irish Novel, 1790-1829 and the editor of many books, including Theorizing Ireland and the Cambridge Companion to Modern Irish Culture. Her interests also include environmental humanities, and she is Co-Principal Investigator of the interdisciplinary research project Deep Maps: West Cork Coastal Cultures.
