Selma Sabanovic (Indiana University - Bloomington) explains the roots of Japan’s cultural embrace of robots and artificial intelligence.  The Japanese heritage of sophisticated doll making, Shinto spiritualism, demographics, and the fascination with technology have all contributed to the widespread adoption of robotic machines.
