Bequests
Bequests are an important source of support. They provide funds for scholarships, programming and campus improvements.
There are a number of ways to make a bequest to MSU.
1. General Bequest: You simply designate a specified dollar amount or property to MSU
I give devise and bequeath to MSU the sum of $________(or described property) for the general purposes of the University (or for a specific program or fund you desire)
2. Residuary Bequest: This is used to give all or a portion of your estate to MSU AFTER all debts, taxes expenses and all other bequests are paid out.
I give devise and bequeath to MSU the remainder of my property, real and personal, for the general purposes of the University (or for a specific prgram or fund you desire)
3. Percentage Bequest: This is used in cases where there is more than one charity or person you would like to share in your residual estate
I give, devise and bequeath _______% to MSU for general purposes of the University (or for a specific program or fund you desire)
4. Contingent Bequest: If one of your named beneficiaries dies before you do or disclaims property or does not fulfill you specified terms of the bequest you can leave it to MSU as an alternate benficiary.
If any of the above named beneficiaries should predecease me, I give devise and bequeath the property which said beneficiary would have received if that beneficiary had survived me, to MSU for the general purposes of the University (or for a specific program or fund you desire)
