General support is important to Montclair State University. The need for student services and scholarships has never been greater, state support is declining, the New Jersey high school-aged population is increasing, and New Jersey ranks a disappointing 45th in the nation for state support of public higher education. Montclair State University needs your help to continue to offer a singular place for students of modest means but great ambition and ability to pursue their dreams.

The Campaign for the Second Century

In October 2004, Montclair State University officially launched The Campaign for the Second Century, an ambitious $50 million capital campaign that will build a stronger future for the University. The Campaign will enable Montclair State to continue to respond to the growing demand for public higher education. It culminates in 2008, Montclair State's centennial. A capital campaign consists of restricted gifts given by any constituency for a specific project or purpose, such as construction or endowment. A capital campaign is a multi-year effort.

Annual Fund

The Annual Fund seeks private support from alumni, parents, friends, faculty and staff on an annual basis. The Fund year runs from July 1 through June 30. The Annual Fund provides support for the University's greatest needs. Gifts to the Annual Fund help keep the cost of tuition down and ensure that current and future students continue to receive the best education possible. Annual Fund dollars provide critical support for initiatives such as scholarships, improvements to classrooms, laboratories and other campus facilities, new program development and a number of other programs and services that often would not be funded through tuition and state appropriations.

Alumni Association Membership

The Montclair State University Alumni Association is a membership organization that provides special programs and services for Montclair State graduates. Monies raised through alumni memberships contribute to the operating costs of the Alumni Association and special alumni events. One of the benefits of Alumni Association membership is the alumni membership card, which provides for access to Sprague Library, campus computer labs and recreation facilities, discounts on campus theater and athletic events, and a 10% discount on all MSU clothing and giftware at the University Bookstore.
